Current TV’s “Vanguard” Explores Hot Topic Of U.S.-Mexico Border Control
New York, NY, United States (AHN) – With mid-term elections coming to a close, Current TV will debut a three-part investigative documentary series that explores a highly-charged political issue: U.S.-Mexico border control. The Peabody-Award winning series, “Vanguard,” will feature a three-part docu-drama all about U.S.-Mexico border control.
The first of three installments will debut on Monday, November 15th with third-generation journalist Cristof Putzel’s firsthand account of the world of immigration.
Putzel acts as the migrants do, and crosses the border illegally, along with “coyotes,” immigrants who specialize in human smuggling, who profit from crossing the border illegally, and documents it all for Current TV viewers.
In parts two and three, which will air Nov. 22 and 29, correspondent and executive producer Adam Yamaguchi takes an in-depth look at the drug trafficking trade and how cartels are moving their marijuana-cultivating business across the border closer to U.S. federal officers and laws, bringing the war on drugs much closer to home.
Yamaguchi also shows his unprecedented access in the documentary; an elite undercover task force and DEA agents attempt to dismantle the drug cartel operations and eradicate multi-million dollar marijuana fields.
