Intel, JPMorgan Earnings Lift U.S. Stocks
New York, NY, United States (AHN) – Higher than expected quarterly earnings from Intel Corp. and JPMorgan Chase lifted stocks on Wednesday with the blue chips index rising to its highest close since May 3.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained nearly 76 points or 0.7 percent to close at 11,096.
The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index was up 8 points or 0.7 percent to end at 1,178.
The Nasdaq Composite Index rose 23 points or 1 percent to close at 2,441.
Meanwhile, gold futures for December delivery jumped $23.80 to close at a record high of $1,370 an ounce.
Crude oil price rose $1.29 to settle at $83 per barrel.
